A few days ago I received the following email:
Hi Roman,
I am delighted to let you know that one of your photos with a Creative Commons license has been selected for inclusion
in the newly released fourth edition of our Schmap San Francisco Guide:
Transamerica Pyramid

I guess this makes me a published photographer and I am obviously honoured but I would probably pick a different photo of this famous building from my Flickr collection:

I don’t want to take away your good feeling in any way, I like your photo. It just seems Schmap has worked out a new business model – not paying for photos and making Flickr users happy because of choosing their pictures
I’m also one of them (and frankly do not consider my capture of Rome the best I have either), my friend as well.
Agreed. Schmaps has published about 3 or 4 of my pictures, and they are again not the ones that I would pick. Ah well…
Congratulations. I think it all comes down to perspective. Someone commented on some of my photos as being very good, but I thought they were very bad. It’s the “beauty in the eye of the beholder” thing. Some people see things that we don’t. Good Luck. Great photos!!
Anyway pictures selected must be good and you should be proud of it.
Same here. Schmap has not generated any traffic on my Flickr so far, I wish you better luck.
